Bokshi Synopsis: What the Story Is About
At the centre of Bokshi is Anahita, a young girl still reeling from the violent and unexplained loss of her mother. Her mother vanished under brutal circumstances, and the wound has not healed. The one steady presence in her life is Shalini, the teacher who takes her history classes, and the bond between student and mentor becomes Anahita’s anchor.
That fragile sense of safety is tested when her school organises an unusual field trip to an ancient, prehistoric site steeped in mystery. What should be a lesson about the distant past turns into something far more personal. Out there, among the remnants of another age, Anahita is brought face to face with a fate she never asked for, one that seems tied to forces much older than she is.
The film’s tagline, “A witch is born twice”, hints at the folk-horror roots of the story without giving its secrets away. Bokshi blends horror and drama with touches of fantasy, using grief, memory and myth to build its unsettling world.
