Mandaadi Synopsis: A Sea Action Drama Set on the Tamil Nadu Coast
Mandaadi (Tamil: மண்டாடி) takes viewers to the fishing communities of Tamil Nadu’s coastline, where a festival is marked by a traditional boat race. Soori plays Muthukaali, known as Kaali and also called Mandaadi. He is a fishing captain whose strength comes from years spent reading the sea: its currents, its winds and how a boat responds to them.
When the festival race arrives, Kaali takes charge of a six-member crew and pits his hard-won knowledge of the water against rival teams. The contest is more than a test of rowing power. It becomes a matter of skill, leadership and pride for the people competing.
The film combines on-water action with drama about the characters around the race. Suhas appears as Saattapuli, Mahima Nambiar as Angel Rakkamma and Sathyaraj as Machamuni. With the sea and the boat race at its centre, Mandaadi is built around the spectacle and the stakes of a coastal tradition.
