Ramayana: Rise of a Legend – Synopsis (No Spoilers)

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend brings one of India’s most cherished epics to the big screen as a large-scale fantasy adventure in Hindi. At its centre are a young prince, Ram, and a princess, Sita. Their marriage is a joyful union, but soon afterwards they are sent into exile. That exile marks the start of a journey that tests love, loyalty and the sense of duty that defines them both.

The film surrounds the couple with familiar figures from the epic. Ram’s devoted brother Lakshman stands by him, while King Dashrath and the queens Kaushalya, Kaikeyi and Sumitra shape the royal household they leave behind. Bharata is also part of this world. Looming over the story is Ravana, the formidable king who becomes a central force in the saga, alongside Shurpanakha.

True to its tagline, “Our truth. Our history”, the film presents the beginning of a legendary story about destiny and the trials that lie ahead. This page covers only the premise, with no spoilers.
