Synopsis: What Is Rambut Sewu: Satu Langkah Getih About?
This upcoming Indonesian horror-mystery centres on Wulan (Wavi Zihan), a young woman who relocates to a village with her mother, Ratih (Ruth Marini). Their new home is an aging house that belongs to the tea factory where they work. The move soon unsettles Wulan. She is troubled by disturbing dreams and unexplained occurrences, and she gradually finds she can no longer fully control her own actions.
The villagers point to a familiar name: Marni (Taskya Namya), who once lived in the same house and whose fate has gone unexplained for decades. When news of Wulan’s condition circulates online, it reaches Damar (Yusuf Mahardika), a journalist who grew up in the village and returns to look into it. Suradi (Donny Alamsyah), a man who understands the old forces at play, joins the effort. Together they try to break the bond tying Wulan to Marni and to a power known as Dhandhang Gendhing.
The premise blends a haunted-house setup with a decades-old village mystery and a modern social media angle.
