Plot: What Is Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City About?

It’s the late 1990s, and Raccoon City is fading fast. The town once thrived as the base of the powerful pharmaceutical company Umbrella Corporation. When the corporation pulled out, it left behind empty streets, struggling residents and an uneasy sense that something was never properly cleaned up. Beneath the surface, Umbrella’s secret experiments have left behind a threat no one in town is prepared for.

When that danger finally breaks loose, an infection spreads through the population and transforms the people it touches. With the city heading into lockdown, a handful of survivors are drawn together, including Claire Redfield, her brother Chris, rookie cop Leon Kennedy and members of the local police force. Their path leads through familiar territory for fans of the games: a sprawling mansion, the Raccoon City police station and the dark history of an orphanage. To make it to morning, the group has to work out what Umbrella has been hiding and survive one very long night.
