The Raid 2 Plot: What the Story Is About (No Spoilers)
Rama, the police officer played by Iko Uwais, barely survived a brutal assault on a criminal stronghold in an apartment building. That nightmare was only the beginning. In The Raid 2 (original title The Raid 2: Berandal), he is pulled into an even more dangerous assignment. He has to go undercover and work his way inside a powerful Indonesian crime syndicate.
Rama has two reasons to take the job. He wants to keep his family safe, and he wants to expose the corrupt officers hiding within his own police force. Living a double life puts him among gangsters, rival criminal interests and violent enforcers, where one wrong move could reveal who he really is.
The story widens the scope of the first film. It moves from a single building into a sprawling underworld of crime families, prison, undercover policing and shifting loyalties. The film also introduces characters played by Japanese actors, a hint of a wider web of criminal ambitions. Throughout, Rama has to rely on his skill in pencak silat, the Indonesian martial art, often while badly outnumbered.
