Train to Busan Plot: A Spoiler-Free Synopsis
A mysterious infection begins tearing through South Korea, and the people aboard a high-speed train heading south to Busan suddenly find themselves on the front line. What starts as an ordinary trip becomes a desperate test of nerve once the outbreak reaches the carriages. The narrow aisles, cramped vestibules and stations along the route all turn into danger zones.
Gong Yoo plays Seok-woo, one of the passengers forced to make split-second decisions as the situation spirals out of control. Around him is a mix of fellow travellers, played by Kim Su-an, Jung Yu-mi, Don Lee, Choi Woo-shik, An So-hee and Kim Eui-sung. Each of them responds to the crisis in their own way, and the tension between strangers in close quarters adds to the danger.
The film’s tagline, “Life-or-death survival begins,” sums up the setup. There is a confined space, a fast-spreading threat and no easy way off. This is survival horror built on momentum, with the train serving as both a shelter and a trap.
