Plot: What Is Happy Kanako’s Killer Life About?
Kanako Nishino is the kind of office worker who apologises before she even speaks. She is quiet and easily pushed around, so she starts looking for a fresh start in a new job. That career change takes a wild turn when the company she ends up applying to is not an ordinary firm at all: it is an agency that carries out assassinations.
Instead of fleeing, Kanako finds out something surprising about herself. The meek, nervous employee has a real talent for the work of a hitman. Her new colleagues include Sakurai, a sharp-tongued professional whose approval is not easy to win, and Kanako sets out to prove she belongs.
The twist is that a deadly profession does not free her from everyday office headaches. Awkward coworkers, workplace rules and the pressure to perform still follow her, now with much higher stakes. The series mixes dark action with workplace comedy, using the absurd gap between Kanako’s ordinary worries and her extraordinary job for laughs and drama.
