Moonlit Reunion plot: what the story is about
Chang’an, the imperial capital, gains a new official when Mei Zhuyu takes up a post at the Bureau of Mystic Investigations. Quiet and composed, he comes from a minor branch of the influential Mei clan and keeps his true skills to himself: he is a trained demon slayer.
At a court banquet he crosses paths with Wu Zhen, the Empress’s younger sister. Spirited and defiant, she seems the opposite of the reserved newcomer. She also hides a secret. Wu Zhen is half-demon and secretly serves as Guardian of the Demon Underworld, working behind the scenes to keep an uneasy peace between the human and demon worlds.
The setup gives the drama its central tension. A man sworn to hunt demons and a woman protecting them now move in the same circles in the capital, and neither knows who the other really is. Moonlit Reunion builds its story on that mix of hidden identities, court life and supernatural danger, with romance at its heart.
