Perfect Match plot: what the story is about
Set in Bianjing, the lively capital of the Northern Song dynasty, Perfect Match (original title: 五福临门) follows a determined widowed mother, Madame Li, and her five daughters. The girls are admired for their looks and sharp minds, yet none of them fits neatly into the role of the ideal bride. That leaves their mother worried about their futures, so she uproots the household and heads to the capital, hoping a bigger city will bring better matches.
Each sister has her own complication. Shou Hua, the eldest, lost her husband young and has no wish to marry again. Kang Ning, the third daughter, is bold and stubborn. Hao De, the fourth, means well but rarely softens her words. Le Shan, the youngest, is pampered and hard to please. Things get off to a rocky start when the family’s arrival is met coolly by the sister who already married into the capital. While Madame Li works to rebuild the family business in unfamiliar surroundings, the sisters stumble into comic mishaps, tender moments and plenty of matchmaking chaos.
