Pursuit of Jade plot: what the story is about
Pursuit of Jade (逐玉) is a Chinese costume drama that pairs two people from opposite ends of society. Fan Changyu is a butcher’s daughter: practical, tough, and used to earning her keep with a cleaver in hand. Xie Zheng was born into nobility but has lost his place and now carries a hidden identity and a deep desire for revenge.
Circumstances push the two into a marriage of convenience. Their arrangement is a fake marriage, with each of them bringing their own secrets and reasons to the deal. Life starts out in a small, everyday setting full of slice-of-life moments. Beyond that quiet world, court intrigue, political scheming, and the threat of war are building, and Xie Zheng’s past is never far behind him.
The series blends romance with martial arts action and historical fiction. Much of the tension comes from deception, hidden loyalties, and a heroine who is anything but a typical sheltered noblewoman.
