Shine on Me plot: what the story is about
Nie Xiguang (Zhao Jinmai) comes from a wealthy family and seems to have everything. Emotionally, though, she is stuck. For a long time she has given her feelings to someone who has never returned them, and she keeps holding on to a hope that keeps her standing still.
Then her path crosses with Lin Yusen (Song Weilong). Their first encounter leaves a strong impression and quietly shifts the direction of her life. The drama follows what happens after that meeting. It asks whether Xiguang can let go of a love that only flows one way, and whether she can notice the person who sees her clearly.
Set against a modern city backdrop, Shine on Me (original title: 骄阳似我) is an urban romance about longing, second chances and the courage to open your heart again. Its tagline sums up the mood: “Trapped in my love, yearning for your heart to turn to me.” It is a slow-burn story about yearning, more than a lighthearted rom-com.
