Veil of Shadows plot: what the story is about
Veil of Shadows (original title: 月鳞绮纪) is a Chinese xuanhuan costume drama that blends romance with demon-hunting fantasy. Its heroine is Lu Wuyi, the youngest nine-tailed fox in the secretive Formless Moon Sect. With her friend Wu Wangyan, she is sent after Xiaowei, a fox demon who has slipped away. The trail leads her undercover into the Wei Mansion in Luo’an City.
Inside the mansion, Lu Wuyi is not the only one hiding a purpose. She crosses paths with Wu Shiguang, a man carrying a bitter grudge, and with Ji Ling and Li Jie, two demon hunters from the Shilin Sect. A fox spirit working alongside people trained to catch her kind makes for an uneasy partnership. Every alliance comes with doubts, and each character keeps their own reasons close.
Hanging over everything is the Dragon Deity’s Power, a force that several sides want to claim. It draws the group into a conflict far bigger than the hunt for one runaway demon. The result is a mix of mystery, romance and supernatural conflict set in a historical-fantasy world.
