Resident Evil (2026) plot summary (spoiler-free)
Bryan, played by Austin Abrams, is a medical courier, someone whose job is to move sensitive deliveries from one place to another. On an ordinary shift he has no idea he is about to be pulled into something far bigger than a routine drop-off. When an outbreak takes hold, the night stops being about getting a package to its destination and becomes a fight to stay alive.
The whole story is compressed into a single night, and the tension builds as the situation spirals out of control around Bryan. He is not a trained soldier or a scientist, just a working man caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, which gives the survival story an everyman angle. Zombie threats and graphic body horror push him to his limits, while flashes of dark humour cut through the dread.
The tagline “A new era of evil” signals a fresh start for the franchise. This is a reboot that returns to the survival-horror roots of the video game series. This summary covers only the setup, so nothing about how the night ends is revealed here.
