The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018): plot summary, cast led by Jack Black and Cate Blanchett, US release date and where to watch, including Netflix.

Plot Summary (No Spoilers)

Set in the 1950s, The House with a Clock in Its Walls follows Lewis Barnavelt (Owen Vaccaro), a ten-year-old who has lost his parents and has to start over in an unfamiliar home. His new guardian is his Uncle Jonathan (Jack Black), an eccentric who lives in a rambling old house full of strange corners, secret passageways and clocks of every kind. Yet one ticking sound can’t be traced to any of them. It seems to come from somewhere inside the walls.

Lewis soon discovers that Jonathan is no ordinary relative. He is a warlock, and the boy is drawn into a world of magic that also includes Florence Zimmerman (Cate Blanchett). Eager to belong, Lewis begins learning spells of his own, only to find that magic carries real consequences. One rash decision stirs up dark forces, and uncovering the secret hidden in the house becomes far more urgent than anyone expected.

Wrapped in a Halloween atmosphere of pumpkins, shadows and creaking floorboards, the film mixes spooky mystery with comedy and a heartfelt story about family and finding your place.
