Plot Summary: What Is The Medium About?
In rural Thailand, spiritual mediumship is a family inheritance, and one family has long served as the earthly vessel for a local goddess. The Medium (original title: ร่างทรง) follows a documentary crew filming this tradition up close, recording the shaman’s rituals, beliefs and daily routines.
When a young woman in the family, Mink, begins acting in strange and unsettling ways, the relatives first read it as a familiar sign that the goddess is choosing her next host. The camera keeps rolling as the family tries to understand what is happening to her. Their certainty starts to crack as the symptoms grow harder to explain.
The story is told in a pseudo-documentary, found-footage style. It draws on Thai folk belief, occult practice and ancestral ritual to build a slow sense of dread. The film tests how far faith can hold when the supernatural stops behaving as expected. Its tagline puts it simply: “Every faith will be challenged.”
