Carrie (2026) plot summary: what the series is about
Carrie White’s life changes when her father dies suddenly. The loss sends her out of her familiar world and into a public high school, where she has no allies and little sense of how its social hierarchy works. At home she lives with her mother, Margaret, a devout and controlling figure whose grip on her daughter grows tighter as their household adjusts to grief.
At school, Carrie becomes the centre of a bullying incident that spreads online and becomes a scandal felt across the whole community. Phones, feeds and constant judgement leave no escape from the cruelty of her classmates. Students and staff, including Sue Snell, Chris Hargensen, Tommy Ross and Principal Grayle, are drawn into the fallout.
Alongside this pressure, Carrie discovers that she can move objects with her mind. Her telekinetic ability grows as she does, and it is something she does not yet understand. The series blends coming-of-age drama with mystery and supernatural horror, and it reimagines a familiar story of isolation and anger for the social-media era.
