Plot summary: what Fireworks of My Heart is about
Song Yan leads a fire rescue team, and Xu Qin works as an emergency doctor. When they were younger, the two shared a close bond, but family opposition forced them apart and they went their separate ways. Ten years later, their jobs bring them back into each other’s orbit: emergency call-outs, rescue operations and hospital wards where every minute matters.
Working on the front line of emergency services pushes both of them to face what was left unresolved. Each has grown during the years apart, and they slowly begin to recognise the person the other has become. Side by side, they support one another through dangerous, high-pressure situations. The obstacles that once separated them have not simply disappeared, though.
The Chinese drama, originally titled 我的人间烟火, blends a second-chance workplace romance with rescue action and medical scenes. It also explores the psychological weight of emergency work, including post-traumatic stress. At its heart is one question: can a reunion survive the same pressures that ended things the first time?
