Human Vapor plot summary
Human Vapor opens with a death that plays out on live television, in front of an audience that has no idea what it has just witnessed. The investigation quickly runs into something police procedure cannot explain: the person responsible appears able to dissolve into gas, slipping past any ordinary attempt at capture.
As a detective follows the trail, the case points beyond a single killer. The evidence leads to a hidden project that exploited people with little power to resist and cast them aside once they were no longer useful. The pursuit becomes both a hunt for a seemingly impossible culprit and an effort to expose who built the system behind him.
The series blends a police investigation with a supernatural, science-fiction premise. It also works as a crime story about responsibility and the people society treats as disposable. Its tagline sets the tone: “You won’t see it coming. You won’t survive it.”
