Moonlit Reunion plot summary
Mei Zhuyu belongs to a minor branch of the powerful Mei clan. Quiet and guarded by nature, he travels to Chang’an to take up a post at the Bureau of Mystic Investigations, the office that handles cases ordinary officials cannot explain. At a court banquet he crosses paths with Wu Zhen, the Empress’s younger sister, whose reckless, free-spirited manner sets her apart from everyone around her.
Neither of them is quite who they appear to be. Mei Zhuyu is a skilled demon hunter. Wu Zhen is half-demon and secretly serves as Guardian of the Demon Underworld, working to keep an uneasy peace between humans and demons. One unanswered question links them both: what really happened in a fire eighteen years earlier.
As bone demons begin to stir and unrest spreads through the capital, the two are pulled into the same search for the truth, each guarding a secret from the other. The result is a historical fantasy that combines supernatural mystery, demon-hunting action and a slow-building romance between two very different people.
