Plot summary: what Only for Love is about
Only for Love (original title: 以爱为营) is a Chinese romantic drama with a strong comedic streak. It is set against the worlds of journalism and high finance.
Zheng Shuyi is an ambitious reporter with one goal: a story big enough to make the front page. Her target is Shi Yan, a powerful figure in the financial world who is notoriously hard to pin down for an interview. Shuyi has built her reputation on thorough, well-researched reporting across many industries. She is not the type to give up easily.
Shi Yan, for his part, is more than a deal-maker. He actively seeks out start-ups with a social conscience, driven by a wish to give something back. When a slip-up throws the two of them together in a way neither planned, their working relationship gets off to an unusual start. As Shi Yan reads Shuyi’s articles, he notices that her views echo his own. That realisation leads him to open his company’s doors to her for a series of reports.
The story follows how two driven professionals navigate ambition, shared values and a growing personal connection. It blends office rivalry and workplace comedy with romance.
