VisionQuest plot summary
VisionQuest is an American sci-fi drama set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and built around Vision, the android played by Paul Bettany. The series begins with Vision in a precarious position: someone has put a bounty on him, and staying alive means staying on the move.
The chase is only half the struggle. Running also forces Vision to face difficult questions about what he actually is and whether his sense of self is truly his own. Hanging over everything is Ultron, voiced by James Spader, whose influence Vision has to keep fighting off if he wants to survive with his identity intact.
The themes go beyond action. Identity and self-definition sit at the core of the story, and the keywords point to a father-son relationship as another emotional thread. This is a character-driven take on a superhero figure. It is more interested in what makes an artificial being who he is than in spectacle alone.
